Description

Very rare minute repeater miniature carriage clock
In the smallest version, only 7cm high
L. Tissot & Co
Geneva Switzerland
in lavishly engine-turned and cobalt blue enamelled silver case
8 day movement
date of manufacture: approx. 1920

This fine coveted miniature carriage clock was made around 1920 in western Switzerland. The rectangular case on the bun feet was made in silver execution, on all sides artfully engine-turned and four-sided elaborately cobalt blue enamelled. The translucent cobalt blue enamelled sides are edged by the opaque white rectangle, which gives a special accent. The ivory-colored enamel dial has a subtle stripe decoration and is equipped with blued hands. The watch has a rhodium-plated rectangular-shaped brass movement with lever escapement and keywind. The minute repeating will be triggered by a cabochon, the strike of the hours, quater hours and minutes is done by two hammers and two gongs. The repetition sounds loud and has a beautiful sound.
